Men's Soccer Drops Home Contest to No. 2 MidAmerica Nazarene

Marshall, Mo., (Oct. 15, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's soccer teams welcomed in MidAmerica Nazarene for a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader Wednesday evening inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.  The No. 5 women's team played No. 19 MidAmerica Nazarene to a 0-0 tie.  The men's team fell to the No. 2 Pioneers.

Play in the men's game began with the two teams trading possession through a long stretch of play.  Both were unable to create chances on goal, while MidAmerica Nazarene earned a pair of corner kick opportunities near the 16-minute mark, and Missouri Valley followed with a pair of corner kicks three minutes later.  The first shot on goal came with 30-minutes played, as Senior Goalkeeper Vicente Benitez Delgado (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) made a save to keep the game scoreless.  The Vikings were unable to create any chances that tested the MNU keeper, and the Pioneers were unable to put any more shots on goal through the rest of the half.  The two teams went into halftime tied at 0-0.

Both teams struggled to create quality chances at the start of the second half.  The first attempt on goal came with just over 12-minutes played after the break, and the Pioneers scored the first goal of the contest, going in front, 1-0.  Missouri Valley created a pair of corner kick opportunities and Senior Midfielder Julius Kruger (Berlin, Germany) had two shots blocked over the next stretch of play, as MVC sat in the one goal deficit at the 65-minute mark.  Benitez Delgado made his first save of the half 11-minutes later, but the Pioneers were awarded a penalty with just over 78-minutes played in the game.  MidAmerica Nazarene scored on the PK attempt, then followed less than a minute later with another goal to increase its advantage.  The Pioneers added one more goal late in the contest, and defeated Missouri Valley, 4-0.

Benitez Delgado made three saves in goal.  Missouri Valley created six shots and five corner kicks.

Missouri Valley drops to 5-5-3 overall and 3-4-2 in the Heart.  MidAmerica Nazarene moves to 9-1-3 on the season and 6-1-2 in the conference.

Up next, the soccer teams will travel to Des Moines, Iowa for a Heart doubleheader against Grand View (Iowa), Saturday.  Men's game starts at 1 p.m., followed by the women's game at 3:30 p.m.
