Marshall, Mo., (Oct. 28, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's soccer teams hosted Missouri Baptist in a Senior Night doubleheader, Tuesday inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium. The No. 5 women's team built up a lead in the first half, and finished with a 3-0 win. The men's team scored a pair of goals in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory.
Missouri Valley created the better of chances from the start of the game. The first shot on goal came with 12-minutes played, as the attempt from Senior Midfielder Judit Ferre (Barcelona, Spain) hit off the crossbar. The rebound fell to Senior Defender Marta Carrasco Mesa (Sevilla, Spain) and her shot was saved by the Missouri Baptist keeper. Nearly two minutes later, the Vikings worked another chance, as Ferre set up Senior Forward Ashley Arribas (Lake Forest, Calif.) from 12-yards out in the center of the MBU box. The next quality chance for Missouri Valley came in the following eight minutes, as a shot from Senior Defender Zoe Christofaro (Tucson, Ariz.) was saved. Moments later, Ferre pressured the Spartan defense, and a clearance attempt deflected off Ferre and into goal to put the Vikings ahead, 2-0. Senior Forward Marlene Flores (Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia) tested the Missouri Baptist keeper midway through the half, but the attempt was saved. The two teams traded possession over the next stretch, until a late chance was created by Missouri Valley. With less than five minutes remaining until the break, Carrasco Mesa sent a long pass towards Senior Forward Silvia Maldonado (Madrid, Spain) in the MBU box. Maldonado then found Ferre in front of goal, and Ferre scored again, her second of the game to send the Vikings into halftime on top, 3-0.
The second half featured more possession for MVC, and the first shot on goal coming nearly 10-minutes into play, as the attempt from Ferre was saved. Senior Defender Carla Carmona (Barcelona, Spain) had a shot saved near the 67-minute mark, and Sophomore Midfielder Fabiana Vasquez (Isla Margarita, Venezuela) got off the final shot in the final three minutes, but the attempt was saved. The Spartans were held to no shots of any kind as the Vikings secured a shutout victory, 3-0.
