The Vikings countered with another chance, but the shot from Carmona was saved with less than 11 minutes to play in the half. Central Methodist countered with its own opportunity moments later, and scored to put the team in front, 2-1. Carmona put a late header on goal, but the Eagle keeper made another save, and Missouri Valley went into halftime trailing by one goal.

Ferre added a shot on goal near the 70-minute mark, while chances from Carmona and Senior Defender Zoe Christofaro (Tucson, Ariz.) were all saved over the next four minutes. The Viking continued to build up pressure, leading to a shot on goal from Sophomore Defender Lucia Torres Vizcaino (Malaga, Spain), which was saved with less than five minutes remaining in the contest. With just over two minutes to play, Ferre found the equalizer, scoring for the second time, and bringing the teams even at 2-2.
