Softball Drops Road Games at Williams Baptist

Walnut Ridge, Ark., (Feb. 27, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College softball team traveled to Walnut Ridge, Ark., for a non-conference doubleheader against Williams Baptist (Ark.), Friday afternoon.  The Vikings fell in the opener, 8-2, then dropped the second game, 7-2.

Williams Baptist took an early lead in the first game, using five hits and one Viking error to score five runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Missouri Valley's deficit grew in the bottom of the second, as WBU added another pair of runs to make it a 7-0 score.  Junior Pitcher Chloe Shuff (Cypress, Calif.) took down Williams Baptist in order in the bottom of the third, and MVC responded with production from the plate in the top of the fourth.  Senior Centerfielder Jesykah Foster (Garden City, Kan.) led off with a single, then moved to third base on a single from Sophomore Second Baseman Allison Loucas (Twin Lakes, Wisc.).  Later in the at-bat, Junior Designated Player Camryn Dilla (West Des Moines, Iowa) singled to bring home both runners, and cut the deficit down to 7-2.  Shuff worked around a leadoff single in the bottom half of the inning, then faced the minimum in the bottom of the fifth, striking out one batter.  The Vikings were unable to work back late in the game, and Williams Baptist added one more run in the bottom of the sixth, as Missouri Valley fell by a final score of 8-2.

Dilla finished with one hit and one RBI, while both Foster and Loucas had one hit and one run scored apiece.  Senior Leftfielder Taya Brickner (Fort Collins, Colo.) had one hit.  Schuff pitched five innings in relief, giving up eight hits and three earned runs with one strikeout.

The second game started with Williams Baptist going in front at the start of the game, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning, then adding another run in the bottom of the second inning.  Missouri Valley cut into its deficit in the top of the third.  Foster singled, then stole second base.  Senior Shortstop Aniah Castruita (South El Monte, Calif.) singled to drive home Foster, and the score sat at 6-1.  Williams Baptist added one more run in the bottom of the third inning, but Freshman Pitcher Sienna Saggiani (Palos Verdes, Calif.) got out of the bottom of the fourth stranding one runner on-base.  Foster led off the top of the fifth with a double, then came home on a Senior Rightfielder Ella Dillon (Sumner, Wash.) single to put the MVC deficit at 6-2.  Saggiani got out of a jam in the bottom of the fifth inning, as WBU put two runners on-base with no outs.  The next batter hit a line out to Loucas at second base, which ended in a double-play.  The next batter popped out to Loucas and kept the game at a 6-2 score.  Missouri Valley was unable to produce a run in the top of the sixth, and Williams Baptist added one more run in the bottom of the inning.  Dilla led off the top of the seven with a single, but the Vikings could not produce a late rally, and fell by a final score of 7-2.

Foster led with two hits and two runs scored, while Sophomore Third Baseman Keira Carvalho (Vista, Calif.) added two hits.  Both Dillon and Castruita finished with one hit and one RBI apiece.  Saggiani went 5.1 innings on the mound, giving up seven hits and five earned runs.
