No. 17 Women's Wrestling Opens Season Competing at Menlo Open

Atherton, Calif, (Nov. 1, 2025)- The No. 17 Missouri Valley College women's wrestling team traveled to Atherton, Calif., to open its 2025-26 season at the Menlo (Calif.) Open, Sunday. The Vikings competed against programs from multiple collegiate divisions.  Leading the team was Senior Sage Beltran (Honolulu, Hawaii), who placed second at 103 pounds, and three other Vikings placed fourth in their respective weight classes.

Senior Sage Beltran (Honolulu, Hawaii)-103 pounds:

First Round: Defeated Karissa McDaniel of Sacramento City (Calif.) in a first period (2:42) pin.

Quarterfinal: Defeated Diamond Lopez of Southern Oregon in a 12-0 technical fall.

Semifinal: Defeated Leah Ford of Texas Wesleyan in a first period (1:44) pin.

First Place Match: Lost to Kailey Salazar of Umpqua CC (Ore.) in a first period (1:52) pin.

Beltran placed second at 103 pounds.

No. 4 Junior Serenity De La Garza (McAllen, Texas)-138 pounds:

First Round: Defeated Sitlaly Macias of Eastern Oregon in a first period (1:32) pin.

Quarterfinal: Defeated Unattached Carmella Foley in a 10-0 technical fall.

Semifinal: Lost to Maci Stemmons of Menlo (Calif.) in 13-3 technical fall.

Consolation Semifinal: Defeated teammate Gwendolyn Jewell in a first period (0:46) pin.

Third Place Match: Lost to Unattached Janie Houser in a 10-10 decision.

De La Garza placed fourth at 138 pounds.

No. 6 Sophomore Jasmina Immaeva (Tashkent, Uzbekistan)- 124 pounds:

First Round: Defeated Unattached Gillian O`Neal in a 10-0 technical fall.

Second Round: Lost to Louisa Schwab of Menlo in an 8-2 decision.

Consolation Second Round: Defeated Elena Rameriz of Vanguard (Calif.) in a first period (1:12) pin.

Consolation Third Round: Defeated Diana Brunell of Southwestern Oregon in a 10-0 technical fall.

Consolation Fourth Round: Defeated Clarissa Cabrera of Simpson (Calif.) in a first period (0:39) pin.

Consolation Fifth Round: Defeated No. 9 Malia Welch of Southern Oregon in an 8-8 decision.

Consolation Semifinal: Defeated Kaylee Annis of Southern Oregon by default.

Third Place Match: Lost to Isabel Navarro of Menlo (Calif.) in a 17-8 decision.

Immaeva placed fourth at 124 pounds. 

Sarina Bertham-145 pounds:

First Round: Defeated Jocelyn Velasco of Eastern Oregon in a first period (2:40) pin.

Second Round: Lost to No. 6 Berlyn Davis of Westcliff (Calif.) in an 8-7 decision. 

Consolation Second Round: Defeated teammate Toby Goertz in a 12-0 technical fall.

Consolation Third Round: Defeated Martha Zurita-Ortez of Menlo Oak Squad (Calif.) in a 10-0 technical fall.

Consolation Fourth Round: Defeated Chantell Noffsinger of Southwestern Oregon in a 10-0 technical fall.
