No. 8 Women's Wrestling Tops No. 15 St. Mary in Road Dual

Leavenworth, Kan., (Feb. 20, 2025)- The No. 8 Missouri Valley College women's wrestling team traveled to Leavenworth, Kan., for a dual with No. 15 St. Mary (Kan.), Thursday evening.  The Vikings pulled out a close win on the road, by a final score of 21-20.

 

103 pounds: Junior Sage Beltran (Honolulu, Hawaii) lost to Eyvori Jacquez in a 14-4 technical fall.  St. Mary leads, 4-1.

 

110 pounds: Both teams left the weight class open.

 

117 pounds: Freshman Ashtyn Sagely (Broken Arrow, Okla.) lost to Alexsys Jacquez in an 8-3 decision.  St. Mary leads, 7-2.

 

124 pounds: Freshman Isla Baeza (Orem, Utah) defeated Rachel Dismuke in a 7-6 decision.  St. Mary leads, 8-5.

 

131 pounds: No. 10 Senior Ashley Whetzal (Virginia Beach, Va.) defeated Maci Peaerson in a 12-0 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 9-8.

 

138 pounds: Freshman Toby Goertz (Wildwood, Mo.)lost to Araya Boday in a first period pin.  St. Mary leads, 13-9.

 

145 pounds: No. 19 Senior Aniseta Acosta (Sacramento, Calif.) defeated Skylur Lewis in a 14-4 technical fall.  St. Mary leads, 14-13.

 

160 pounds: Junior Autumn Perez (Dodge City, Kan.) lost to Amelia Frounfelter in a first period pin.  St. Mary leads, 19-13.

 

180 pounds: No. 5 Senior Kelani Corbett (Wahiawa, Hawaii) defeated Hannah Henderson in a first period pin.  St. Mary leads, 19-18.

 

207 pounds:  Freshman Aniya Herbin (Tampa, Fla.) defeated Lessly Sandoval in a 6-2 decision.

 

Missouri Valley defeated St. Mary, 21-20.

 

Missouri Valley is now 6-5 on the season in duals.

 

Up next, the Viking women's wrestling team will compete at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship, March 1 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
