No. 6 Women's Soccer Tops Culver-Stockton at Home

Marshall, Mo., (Sept. 20, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's soccer teams hosted Culver-Stockton (Mo.) in a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.  The No. 6 women's team won, 4-1, and the No. 25 men's team earned a 3-0 victory.

 

Sophomore Forward Katarina Simic (Marshall, Mo.) registered one goal and two assists, while Senior Forward Silvia Maldonado (Madrid, Spain) scored the game-winning goal. Senior Midfielder Judit Ferre (Barcelona, Spain) scored one goal and Senior Forward Marlene Flores (Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia) had one goal and one assist.  Senior Defender Marta Carrasco Mesa (Sevilla, Spain) had two assists.  Junior Goalkeeper Lola Martinez Benitez (Madrid, Spain) made three saves.  Missouri Valley held a 16-8 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

 

The win moves Missouri Valley to 5-0-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the conference.  Culver-Stockton drops to 4-4-1 on the season and 1-4 in the Heart.

 

Up next, the Viking soccer teams host William Woods (Mo.) in a Heart doubleheader, Tuesday evening inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.  Women's game starts at 5 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
