Women's Basketball Tops Central Methodist on the Road

Fayette, Mo., (Dec. 3, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College basketball teams traveled to Fayette, Mo., for a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader against Central Methodist (Mo.), Wednesday evening.  The Vikings women's team finished out a 61-56 win, while the men's team overcame a halftime deficit to win, 70-65.

Missouri Valley started the women's game by going in front early, as both Senior Jessica Reeter (Chillicothe, Mo.) and Junior Jozelynn Bostick (Centralia, Mo.) made a three-pointer to give the team a 6-2 advantage two minutes into the game.  Teams traded possession over the next stretch of play.  Freshman Madison Mills (Farmington, Mo.) sank back-to-back three-pointers midway through the quarter to extend the Vikings lead, 10-2.  Reeter added another three-point basket with less than four minutes to play to make it a 13-6 lead.  Both teams went scoreless for over two minutes, and the quarter ended with a pair of free throws made by Senior Sophie Sullivan (Lombard, Ill.) to send MVC into the second quarter in front, 15-10.

Scoring started in the second quarter with a three-pointer from Reeter just over two minutes after the restart, and Freshman Bianca Sarbu (Bucharest, Romania) also made a layup a minute later to hold a 20-11 advantage.  Missouri Valley went nearly four minutes without a basket, and the drought ended on a three-pointer from Bostick and Sullivan followed with a layup moments later to make it a 25-18 score.  Sophomore Lexi Fenstermacher (O'Fallon, Mo.) secured a defensive rebound, which led to a layup from Sarbu with under three minutes remaining.  Bostick added a late jumper for MVC, and the team led at the break, 29-20.

Play in the third quarter began with a pair of free throws from Reeter just under one minute played.  The Vikings stretched the advantage to double-digits near the seven-minute mark, as Senior Sara Ortiz (La Roda, Spain) made a layup and Bostick added another three-pointer, 36-26.  Central Methodist kept MVC scoreless for over five minutes and chipped their deficit down to 38-37.  A pair of late free throws made by Reeter sent the Vikings into the fourth quarter on top, 40-39.

The two teams traded points throughout much of the final quarter.  Both Fenstermacher and Sarbu had a layup each to help Missouri Valley stay on top with over two minutes played, 45-44.  Reeter made a three point shot near the six-minute mark, but the Eagles worked back into the game scoring six points over the next minute to take the lead, 50-48.  Missouri Valley responded moments later with a three-pointer from Bostick to reclaim the lead, 51-50.  Central Methodist tied the game at 53-53 but both Reeter and Bostick followed with another three-pointer each to put the Vikings ahead with under two minutes left, 59-53.  Ortiz finished out scoring for MVC with a pair of free throws, and Missouri Valley earned a 61-56 victory.

Reeter led with a season-high 23 points to go with six rebounds.  Bostick scored 17 points, while Ortiz finished with four points and six rebounds. Sarbu came off the bench to score six points, and Sullivan also added four points off the bench.  Missouri Valley held a 39-33 advantage in rebounds and forced Central Methodist into 15 turnovers.
