Cross Country Teams Compete at Heart Championships
Cedar Rapids, Iowa, (Nov. 4, 2023)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2023 Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships, Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Senior Khobi Kellerman (Auxvasse, Mo.) led the men's team in the 8k race with a time of 27:41 to place at No. 53. Junior Ranse Santiago (Kaufman, Texas) followed at No. 106 in a time of 31:58, with Junior Tyler Polley (Brookfield, Mo.) placing at No. 107 in a time of 32:05.Freshman Angel Lopez (Los Fresnos, Texas) finished in a time of 34:36 to place at No. 120, and Senior Rodrigo Escalona-Rodriguez (El Paso, Texas) came in at No. 121 in a time of 35:13.
Freshman Allexis Lark (Alma, Mo.) led the women's team in the 6k race with a time of 28:01 to place at No. 71. Freshman Jeralding Olivas (Senath, Mo.) followed at No. 75 with a time of 28:29, and Junior Jane Watts (Liberty, Mo.) finished in a time of 30:42 to place at No. 87.
Missouri Valley placed No. 13 in the men's race with a total score of 383. Benedictine (Kan.) won the men's championship with a score of 31. Missouri Valley did not post a women's team score. Benedictine won the women's championship with a final score of 28.
