No. 14 Men's Wrestling Tops Baker in Home Dual

Marshall, Mo., (Jan. 11, 2024)- The No. 14 Missouri Valley College men's wrestling team hosted Baker (Kan.) in a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual Thursday evening inside the Burns Athletic Complex.  The Vikings won three matches by pin to earn a 36-13 victory.

125 pounds: Sophomore Elijah Asuncion (Honolulu, Hawaii) won by forfeit.  Missouri Valley leads, 6-0.

133 pounds: No. 9 Freshman Haden Hernandez (Huntington Beach, Calif.) won by forfeit.  Missouri Valley leads, 12-0.

141 pounds: No. 20 Freshman Kristofer Arrey (Riverside, Calif.) defeated  Joseph Triscornia in a 10-5 decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 15-0.

149 pounds: No. 7 Chase Zollmann (Poway, Calif.) defeated No. 20 Nikolas Slatoff in an 8-5 decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 18-0.

157 pounds: Sophomore Cole Patten (Lebanon, Mo.) lost to Jonah Muhammed in a 20-3 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 18-5,

165 pounds: Junior Jesus Gutierrez (Victorville, Calif.) lost to Joey Hancock in a 15-6 major decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 18-9.

174 pounds: Freshman Jokiah Sewell (Mexico, Mo.) defeated Travis Sanders in a first period (1:14) pin.  Missouri Valley leads, 24-9.

184 pounds: No. 23 Senior Drake Tipton (Grain Valley, Mo.) lost to No. 13 Brett Bober in an 11-3 major decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 24-13.

197 pounds: No. 9 Sophomore Elijah Hynes (Broken Arrow, Okla.) defeated Kevin Lund in a third period (6:45) pin.  Missouri Valley leads, 30-13.

285 pounds: No. 6 Senior Joshua Isaac (Woodbridge, Va.) defeated Elijah Eslinger in a first period (1:19) pin.

Missouri Valley defeated Baker, 36-13.

Missouri Valley improves to 9-1 on the season, while Baker drops to 3-4.

Up next, the Vikings will host the Missouri Valley Invitational, one of the largest NAIA wrestling events in the country.  The tournament begins Jan. 19, and continues Jan. 20 inside the Burns Athletic Complex.
