Weightlifting Team Opens Competition Season at StrenghtWorks Open

St. Louis, Mo., (Oct. 19, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College weightlifting team opened its competition season with the USA Weightlifting StrenghtWorks Open in St. Louis, Mo., Saturday.  Ten individuals earned National qualifying marks at the event.

 

Women:

Freshman Aliyah Marshall (Independence,MO) Snatch 46 kg/  101.2 lbs, Clean & Jerk 67 kg/ 147.4 lbs, = Total 113 kg/ 248.6 lbs, Qualified for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Junior Elen Cabral (Betim, Minas Gerais, Brazil) Snatch 45 kg/  99 lbs, Clean & Jerk 48 kg/  105.6 lbs = Total 93 kg/ 204.6 lbs.

 

Junior Alexx Torres (Chicago, IL) Snatch 40 kg/  88 lbs, Clean & Jerk 48 kg/ 105.6 lbs = 88 kg/ 193.6 lbs.

 

Freshman Delaney Welker (Mascoutah, IL) Snatch 40 kg/ 88 lbs, Clean & Jerk 47 kg/  103.4 lbs = Total 87 kg/ 191.4 lbs.

 

Freshman Hannah Miller (Marshall, MO) Snatch 40 kg/ 88 lbs, Clean & Jerk 45 kg/ 99 lbs = Total 85 kg/ 187 lbs.

 

Junior Skyie Fuentes (Ione, CA) Snatch 33 kg/ 66 lbs, Clean & Jerk 40 kg/ 88 lbs = Total 73 kg/ 160.6 lbs.

 

Freshman Madison Woodworth (Panama City, FL) went 6/ 6 on attempts, Snatch 62 kg/ 136.7 lbs Clean & Jerk 80 kg/ 176 lbs = Total 142 kg/ 313 lbs-Qualified for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Junior Toni Randle (Kennett, MO) Snatch 55 kg/ 121 lbs, Clean & Jerk 78 kg/ 172 lbs = Total 133 kg/ 293.2 lbs-Qualified for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Men:

Sophomore Trenton Stephenson (Lee's Summit, MO) 3rd Overall in Men's Junior Age Group, Snatch 85 kg/  187.3 lbs Clean & Jerk 106 kg/ 233.7 lbs = 191 kg/ 421.1 lbs-Qualified for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Freshman Jedi Kracl (Crete, NE) Snatch 66 kg/ 145.5 lbs, Clean & Jerk 100 kg/  220 lbs = 166 kg/ 365.9 lbs-Qualified for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Freshman Ishmael Foster (Palatka, FL) went 6/ 6 on attempts, Snatch 60 kg/ 132 lbs, Clean & Jerk 100/ 220 lbs = Total 160 kg/ 352.7 lbs-Qualified for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Freshman Myles Mobley (Ballwin, MO) Snatch 67 kg/ 147.7, Clean & Jerk 85 kg/ 187.4 lbs = Total 152 kg/ 335.1 lbs.

 

Sophomore Corey Morabito (Lansdale, PA) Snatch 60 kg/ 132 lbs, Clean & Jerk 75 kg/ 165 lbs = 135 kg/ 297.6 lbs-Qualified for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Freshman Johnathan Waugaman (Mayo, FL) Snatch 60 kg/ 132 lbs, Clean & Jerk 70 kg/ 154 lbs = Total 130 kg/ 286.6 lbs.

 

Freshman Jaden Lambert (Belton, MO) Snatch 76 kg/  Clean & Jerk 110 kg/ = Total 186 kg-Qualified for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.

 

Junior Gabriel Pineda (Marshall, MO) Snatch 90 kg/ 198 lbs, Clean & Jerk 110 kg/ 242 lbs = Total 200 kg/ 440 lbs-Qualified for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, OH, and this now makes Gabriel a 2x National Universities Qualifier.

 

Senior Hayden Kilson (Carrollton, MO) Snatch 120 kg/ 264 lbs, Clean & Jerk 155 kg/ 341 lbs = Total 275 kg/ 605 lbs-Qualified for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, OH, and this now makes Gabriel a 2x National Universities Qualifier.

 

"It was an amazing day, and our student-athletes did an awesome job," said Head Coach Jianping Mah.  "Many of them competed for the first time at a weightlifting event, and the team brought home one Junior men's medal, and qualified ten for the University Nationals.  I could not be prouder of all of them."

 

Current Viking Qualifiers for the 2025 USA Weightlifting University Nationals in Columbus, OH: Aaliyah Marshall, Madison Woodworth, Toni Randle, Corey Morabito, Ishmael Foster, Jedi Kracl, Jaden Lambert, Trenton Stephenson, Gabriel Pineda and Hayden Kilson.

 

The Vikings have now also qualified the following for USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals held in Oklahoma City, OK for 2025: Azlyn Schwarzer, Audrey Schoch, Lauren Bates, Sarah Khamis, Diego Mercado, Caiden Sanford, Corey Morabito and Gabriel Pineda.
