No. 4 Men's Volleyballl Sweeps Culver-Stockton on the Road
Canton, Mo., (Feb. 17, 2026)- The No. 4 Missouri Valley College men's volleyball team traveled to Canton, Mo., for a Heart of America Athletic Conference contest with Culver-Stockton (Mo.), Tuesday evening. The Vikings finished out a sweep, 25-19, 25-20, 25-22, to pick up the road win.
Game one opened with Missouri Valley going on top early, as Senior Opposite Luca Hasse (Paderborn, Germany) and Sophomore Middle Blocker Martin Tseyera (Salta, Argentina) each landed two kills to make it a 4-1 score. The Vikings gradually added to their advantage over the next stretch of play, as Junior Outside Hitter Pierro Porras (Lima, Peru) added two kills, and Hasse put down one more kill as the lead sat at 9-5. Culver-Stockton chipped away at its deficit, eventually trailing, 10-9. The Vikings followed with a run, taking six of the next seven points. Tseyera and Hasse each had two kills, while Freshman Outside Hitter Loan Fargier added one kill to help extend the advantage out to 16-10. Porras finished off the next kill for MVC, while Hasse and Senior Middle Blocker Pedro Berti (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) teamed up on a block to put the score at 18-11. The Wildcats came back by winning four of five points in a stretch of play late in the game, and trailed 19-16. Porras came back with a kill to end the CSC run, and Freshman Outside Hitter Bart Mulder (Hoogeveen, Netherlands) finished off the next three Viking kills to move the team to game-point. Porras added one final kill to end the game for Missouri Valley, 25-19.
Culver-Stockton won the first point of game two, but MVC followed by winning the next 10 points to build up a large advantage early. Porras totaled three kills, Tseyera had two kills and Fargier landed a pair of aces to give the team a 10-1 lead. The two teams traded points over the next stretch, as one kill from Porras, Berti, Freshman Outside Hitter Timothee Carpentier (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Junior Middle Blocker Jaxson Gonzales (Dallas, Texas), along with an ace by Junior Outside Hitter Frederico Baptiste (Esmoriz, Portugal) put the score at 16-8. The Wildcats began to chip away at their deficit, until trailing, 21-18. Gonzales put down another kill, while Freshman Setter Leonardo Poiatti (Sao Paulo, Brazil) recorded an ace to make it a 23-18 lead for Missouri Valley. The final two Vikings points in the game came off CSC errors, and Missouri Valley won the second game, 25-20. The team hit at a .579 percentage in the game.
Needing a win in the third game to extend the match, Culver-Stockton began play with a 4-2 lead. The Vikings responded to win five of the next six points. Three-straight CSC errors, along with one kill from Berti and an ace by Poiatti, sent Missouri Valley on top, 7-5. The Wildcats came back, and eventually took a 10-8 lead. Missouri Valley then won four-straight points, as Sophomore Opposite Guilherme Lorenzini (Florianopolis, Brazil) and Freshman Outside Hitter Stefan Randovanovic (Slovenia) each had one kill, and Gonzales put down a block to move MVC ahead, 12-10. Gonzales landed the next two kills for Missouri Valley, and Berti finished off one kill to push the advantage out to 18-13. Culver-Stockton began to work back into the game, and eventually sat in a 21-10 deficit. Lorenzini and Mulder finished off back-to-back kills to make it a 23-20 score, while Mulder sent the contest to match-point with another kill. Sophomore Libero Bernardo Wolf Roese (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) ended the contest with an ace on the final point, and MVC won the third game, 25-22, to sweep the match.
Porras led with nine kills, on a .900 hitting percentage, while Mulder added another nine kills. Tseyera added six kills. Poiatti led with 23 assists and added two aces, and Alberto Fontanabona had 13 assists and four digs. Eduardo Vieira led with eight digs. Missouri Valley had three blocks and six aces as a team, and hit at a .408 percentage in the match.
Missouri Valley improves to 9-1 on the season and 2-1 in the Heart. Culver-Stockton drops to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
