Track & Field Produce Multiple Event Winners at GV Viking Classic
Des Moines, Iowa, (April 24, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College track and field teams competed at the GV Viking Classic in Des Moines, Iowa, Friday. The Vikings produced four individual champions in their respective events, and took first place in the men's 4x100m relay. Junior Jozelynn Bostick (Centralia, Mo.) broke the school's record in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 11:41.49 at the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College (Iowa).
Men's Results:
Sophomore Silas Morton (Strafford, Mo.): was the javelin throw champion with a distance of 53.43.
Freshman Adrian Miles, Jr. (Biloxi, Miss.): placed second in the discus throw with a distance of 45.77 meters, placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 35.99 meters, placed seventh in the shot put with a distance of 13.20 meters, and placed 16th in the hammer throw with a distance of 30.79 meters.
Freshman Luke Mosley (Jefferson City, Mo.): placed second in the pole vault with a jump of 4.25 meters.
Sophomore Montique Griffiths (Maypen, Jamaica): placed second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.84.
Sophomore Steven Mills (Kansas City, Mo.): placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.17.
Sophomore Joseph James (Excelsior Springs, Mo.): placed second in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 15.29.
Xavier Adams: placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 12.96 meters, placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.31 meters, and placed 7th in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.18.
Freshman Asah Bailey (Kingston, Jamaica): placed third in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.18, and placed 8th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.20.
Freshman Hudson Drydale (Blue Springs, Mo.): placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.51 meters.
Sophomore Evans Kiptoo (Eldoret, Kenya): placed fifth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:47.06.
Junior Daytona Blaine (Shelbina, Mo.): placed fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.60.
Freshman Nahshawn Lindo (Secane, Pa.): placed sixth in the pole vault with a jump of 3.60 meters.
Freshman Angel Campos (Los Fresnos, Texas): placed sixth in the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:50.07.
Sophomore Amardeep Basra (Houston, Texas): placed sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.24.
Sophomore Harrison James (Kansas City, Mo.): placed seventh in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.87, and placed ninth in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.27.
Freshman Bristol Sheetz (Winston, Mo.): placed seventh in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:53.91.
Freshman Jacob Wade (Jefferson City, Mo.): placed eighth in the javelin throw with a distance of 33.52 meters, placed 15th in the shot put with a distance of 11.14 meters.
Freshman Grant Supinski (Kenwood, Ohio): placed eighth in the hammer throw with a distance of 44.03 meters, placed 13th in the discus with a throw of 32.48 meters, and placed 12th in the shot put with a distance of 12.16 meters.
Freshman Gavin Beals (Centralia, Ill.): placed ninth in the shot put with a distance of 12.57 meters, placed 17th in the discus with a throw of 29.08 meters, and placed 17th in the hammer throw with a distance of 29.01.
The 4x100 Relay Team 'A' (Adams, Griffiths, Bailey, Morton) took first place with a time of 43.04.
The 4x100 Relay Team 'B' (Drydale, Anderson, H. James, J. James) placed third with a time of 50.82.
Women's Results:
Freshman Eniola Candice Alabi (Austin, Texas): was the 400 meter dash champion with a time of 59.32, took first place in the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.36.
Freshman Nyla Adams (St. Louis, Mo.): was the triple jump champion with a distance of 10.31 meters, placed third in the long jump with a distance of 5.30 meters. Adams placed sixth in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 16.95, and placed 7th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.05.
Freshman Johanna Watkins (Wentzville, Mo.): placed second in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters.
Senior Federica Gammarota (Foggia, Italy): placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.24, and placed seventh in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 17.14.
Sophomore Brynna Wentland (Higginsville, Mo.): placed fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:45.83.
Senior Kali Brown (Smithville, Mo.): placed fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.40 meters.
Sophomore Jaedyn Smith (Taveres, Fla.): placed 20th in the discus with a throw of 29.49 meters, and placed 17th in the shot put with a distance of 9.67 meters.
Junior Jozelynn Bostick (Centralia, Mo.): placed No. 18 in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 11:41.49 at the Kip Janvrin Open hosted by Simpson College (Iowa). Bostick set a new program-record in the event, beating her previous own record from 2023.
Next up, the Viking track and field teams will compete at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, May 1-2, hosted by Mount Mercy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
