Track and Field Teams Produce an Event Winner at Miner Invitational

Rolla, Mo., (March 2, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College track and field teams continued their outdoor season competing at the Miner Invitational (Mo.) in Rolla, Mo., Friday and Saturday. The Vikings competed against programs from multiple collegiate divisions at the event. The women's team was led by Sophomore Jozelynn Bostick, who won the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:20.74, and Freshman Aarion Pickens, who placed second in the shot put with a distance of 12.11 meters. Leading the men's team was Freshman Dante Gordon (Kingston, Jamaica), who placed third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.89.

 

Women's Results:

Sophomore Jozelynn Bostick (Centralia, Mo.): won the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:20.74. She also finished 10th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:29.83.

Freshman Aarion Pickens: placed second in the shot put with a distance of 12.11 meters. She also finished 16th in the hammer throw with a distance of 34.44 meters.

Senior Paula Romero Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain): placed fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 42.24 meters. She also finished 5th in the shot put with a distance of 11.88 meters, and placed 10th in the discus throw with a distance of 33.54 meters.

Senior Kylie Linson (Troy, Mo.): placed 12th in the shot put with a distance of 10.22 meters. She also finished No. 13 in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.05 meters.

Junior Emily Lechuga (LaPorte, Texas): placed No. 13 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.56. She also finished 24th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.80.

Sophomore Isabella Kulenkamp (Warrensburg, Mo.): placed 15th in the hammer throw with a distance of 35.84 meters. She also finished No. 17 in the discus throw with a distance of 32.06 meters. 

Senior Camille Humphrey (St. Peters, Mo.): placed 15th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:39.33.

Junior Federica Gammarota (Foggia, Italy): placed 15th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.96.

Freshman Jaedyn Smith: placed 16th in the discus throw with a distance of 32.55 meters. She also finished No. 20 in the shot put with a distance of 9.53 meters.

Junior Sydnei Cummings (Elk, Grove, Calif.): placed No. 23 in the javelin throw with a distance of 22.13 meters.

Freshman Brynna Wentland (Higginsville, Mo.): placed 24th in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:00.73.

Freshman Faraja Nyasa (Kigoma, Tanzania): placed 25th in the 800 meter run with a time of 3:01.93.

Freshman Dimitria Sweet: placed 28th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.02. She also finished No. 29 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.56.

Senior Samantha Bitz (Marion, Ill.): placed 35th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.06. She also finished No. 37 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.17.

Freshman Shaliah McKoy (Kingston, Jamaica): placed No. 35 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.93. She also finished 37th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.07.

4x100 Meter Relay team 'A' (McKoy, Lechuga, Bitz, Sweet) placed eight with a final time of 51.37.

 

Men's Results:

Freshman Dante Gordon (Kingston, Jamaica): placed third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.89. He also finished seventh in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.63.

Sophomore Joseph Lepak (Grandview, Mo.): placed eight in the javelin throw with a distance of 56.05 meters.

Freshman Micah Mumford: placed 12th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.18. He also finished No. 15 in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.84.

Freshman Joseph James (Excelsior Springs, Mo.): placed 18th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.98.

Freshman Steven Mills (Kansas City, Kan.): placed 19th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.34. He also finished No. 35 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.56.

Junior Daytona Blaine (Shelbina, Mo.): placed 20th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:03:62.

Freshman Amardeep Basra (Houton, Texas): placed 25th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.04. He also finished No. 53 in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.72.

Senior Luke Clayton (Wichita, Kan.): placed 27th in the shot put with a distance of 11.69 meters.  He also finished No. 29 in the discus throw with a distance of 35.40 meters, and placed No. 33 in the hammer throw with a distance of 31.68 meters.

Freshman Harrison James (Independence, Mo.): placed No. 31 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.47. He also finished 37th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.93.

Freshman Darius Thomas (Fort Worth, Texas): placed No. 43 in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.66.

4x100 Meter Relay team 'A' (H. James, Mills, Sophomore Jorge Munoz (Segovia, Spain), Thomas) placed ninth with a final time of 44.67.

4x400 Meter Relay team 'A' (Thomas, Blaine, Barsa, Gordon) placed sixth with a time of 3:30.74.

 

Up next, the Viking track and field teams will compete at the CMU Invitational in Fayette, Mo., on March 28-29.
