Marshall, Mo., (April 16, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's tennis teams hosted William Woods (Mo.) in Heart of America Athletic Conference matches Thursday afternoon for Senior Day at Indian Foothills Park.  Both teams fell to the Owls.

 

Men's Results:

Singles:

No. 1-Senior Alex Ballinger (Northampton, England) lost to Duarte Melo, 2-6, 2-6.

No. 2-Sophomore Guilherme Silva (Torres Novas, Portugal) lost to Cole Horton, 1-6, 0-6.

No. 3-Junior Bogdan Zakharov (Kokshetau, Kazakhstan) lost to Noah Burton, 3-6, 4-6.

No. 4-Junior Luca Stadtfeld (Cologne, Germany) lost to Thomas Geukemeijer, 1-6, 0-6.

No. 5-Junior David Schlageter (Meerbusch, Germany) lost to Tomas Guadagni, 2-6, 2-6.

No. 6- Sophomore Felix Ortola (Madrid, Spain) lost to Aoi Ooka, 2-6, 2-6.

 

Doubles:

No. 1-Ballinger/Silva lost to Melo/Burton, 3-6.

No. 2-Zakharov/Stadtfeld lost to Horton/Tobas Hajek, 6-7.

No. 3-Schageter/Ortola lost to Jesper Seger/Bruno Matta, 2-6.

 

Women's Results:

Singles:

No. 1-Sophomore Kelia Liebenberg (Hartbeespoort, South Africa) lost to Elise Vandewiele, 1-6, 1-6.

No. 2-Sophomore Deborah Mhizha (Masvingo, Zimbabwe) lost to Bieke Roovers, 1-6, 3-6.

No. 3-Freshman Adriana Barrios (Guatemala City, Guatemala) lost to Lily Hopson, 1-6, 1-6.

 

Doubles:

No. 1-Liebenberg/Mhizha defeated Roovers/Hopson, 6-1.

 

Up next, the Viking tennis teams will host NCAA Division III Westminster (Mo.) in matches, Tuesday at 12 p.m., at Indian Foothills Park.
