Tennis Teams Open Seasons With Matches in Nebraska

Fremont, Neb., (Feb. 7, 2026)-  The Missouri Valley College men's and women's tennis teams opened their spring season with road matches at Midland (Neb.) and Doane (Neb.) this weekend.

 

Men's Vs. Midland:

Singles:

No. 1-Senior Alexander Ballinger (Northampton, England) lost to Martin Cisneros, 4-6, 0-6.

No. 2-Sophomore Guilherme Silva (Torres Novas, Portugal) defeated Jaime De Diego, 6-3, 6-4.

No. 3-Junior Bogdan Zakharov (Kokshetau, Kazakhstan) lost to Unai Llerena, 0-6, 2-6.

No. 4-Junior Luca Stadtfeld (Cologne, Germany) lost to Philip Olsson, 0-6, 0-6.

No. 5-Junior David Schlageter (Meerbusch, Germany) lost to Zhanxing Yu, 4-6, 5-7.

No. 6-Sophomore Vicente Leigh (Santiago, Chile) lost to Angel Bustos, 1-6, 4-6.

Doubles:

No. 1-Silva/Ballinger defeated Bustos/De Diego, 7-6.

No. 2-Zakharov/Stadtfeld lost to Olsson/Llerena, 4-6.

No. 3-Junior Pablo Perez (Malaga, Spain)/Sophomore Felix Ortola (Madrid, Spain) lost to Yu/Cisneros, 3-6.

Missouri Valley lost to Midland, 1-6.

 

Women's Vs. Midland

Singles:

No. 1-Sophomore Keila Liebenberg (Hartbeespoort, South Africa) lost to Graziela Dallagnol, 0-6, 5-7.

No. 2-Freshman Adriana Barrios (Guatemala City, Guatemala) lost to Ai Katsura, 0-6, 0-6.

Doubles:

No. 1-Liebenberg/Barrios lost to Dallagnol/Katsura, 0-6.

Missouri Valley lost to Midland, 0-7.

 

Men's Vs. Doane:

Singles:

No. 1-Senior Alexander Ballinger (Northampton, England) lost to Mats Vervloet, 5-7, 3-6.

No. 2-Sophomore Guilherme Silva (Torres Novas, Portugal) Lost to Diego Infante, 4-6, 6-7.

No. 3-Junior Bogdan Zakharov (Kokshetau, Kazakhstan) Defeated Elliot Dassel, 6-1, 6-1.

No. 4-Junior Luca Stadtfeld (Cologne, Germany) Defeated Jaime Asiair Banzo, 7-6, 6-3.

No. 5-Junior David Schlageter (Meerbusch, Germany) Miles Mollring, 6-1, 6-1.

No. 6-Sophomore Vicente Leigh (Santiago, Chile) lost to Andre Hartman, 4-6, 4-6.

Doubles:

No. 1-Silva/Ballinger defeated Vervloet/Banzo, 7-5

No. 2-Zakharov/Stadtfeld lost to Infante/Dassel, 6-7.

No. 3-Junior Pablo Perez (Malaga, Spain)/Schlageter lost to Hartman/Molving, 2-6.

Missouri Valley lost to Doane, 3-4.

 

Women's Vs. Midland (Exhibition Matches)

Singles:

No. 1-Sophomore Keila Liebenberg (Hartbeespoort, South Africa) lost to Maria Purizaca, 0-6.

No. 2-Freshman Adriana Barrios (Guatemala City, Guatemala) lost to Liz Calderon, 0-6.

No. 3-Liebenberg lost to Kat Johnson, 7-5.

No. 4-Barrios lost to Grace Schroller, 3-6.

Doubles:

No. 1-Liebenberg/Barrios lost to Purizaca/Calderon, 0-6.

No. 2-Liebenberg/Barrios lost to Johnson/Schroller, 2-6.

 

The Viking men's tennis team sits at 0-2, and the women's team is 0-1 on the spring season.

 

Up next, the Viking tennis teams will travel to St. Louis, Mo., for Heart of America Athletic Conference matches against Missouri Baptist, Feb. 21.
