Tennis Teams Dominate Missouri Baptist at Home
Marshall, Mo., (April 5, 2019)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's tennis teams hosted Missouri Baptist University in matches at Indian Foothills Park Friday afternoon. The No. 21 men's tennis team won, 8-1, and the women's team swept all nine matches.
Men's Results:
Singles
No. 1- Freshman Kenta Kondou (Japan) defeated Rattes, 6-2, 6-4.
No. 2- Junior Benedikt Voelker (Neubeuern, Germany) defeated Patrick Szymczak, 6-2, 6-1.
No. 3- Freshman Aota (Osaka, Japan) lost to Lucas Labao, 4-6, 6-2, 8-10.
No. 4- Sophomore Ruben Hoekstra (Woerden, Netherlands) defeated Hillary Ncube, 6-1, 6-3.
No. 5- Junior Marius Castella (Barcelona, Spain) defeated Grady, 6-0, 6-0
No. 6- Junior Guilherme Albertinazzi (Osvaldo Cruz, Brazil) defeated Don Kern, 6-0, 6-2.
Doubles
No. 1- Kondou/Aota defeated Rattes/Labao, 8-3.
No. 2- Voelker/Hoekstra defeated Szymczack/Neube, 8-2.
No. 3- Castella/Albertinazzi defeated Grady/Kern, 8-0.

No. 3- Sophomore Lauryn Daxon (Nassau, Bahamas) defeated Francielly Moreno, 6-0, 6-2.
No. 4- Sophomore Sarah Moehrlein (Munich, Germany) defeated Hannah Chaney, 6-2, 6-2.
No. 5- Freshman Mar Palomeque (Badajoz, Spain) defeated Rafaela Davide, 7-6, 6-4.
No. 6- Senior Bruna Messana (Assis, Brazil) defeated Emily Brown, 7-5, 6-0.
Doubles
No. 1- Bader/Straznicky defeated Stevenson/Moreno, 8-1.
No. 2- Daxon/Moehrlein defeated Brandt/Brown, 8-3.
No. 3- Messana/Palomeque defeated Davide/Chaney, 8-6.
The win pushes the Viking men's tennis team to 9-4, and the women's team stays undefeated with a record of 13-0.
Next up for the tennis teams are matches at Southwestern (Kan.) College, Saturday at 5 p.m., in Winfield, Kan.
