Rodeo Teams Continue Fall Season at Arkansas-Monticello
Monticello, Ark., (Oct. 19, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's rodeo teams traveled to Monticello, Ark., for the Arkansas-Monticello rodeo over the weekend. The men's team placed first overall with three event winners in the average.
In bareback riding, the Viking cowboys produced five of the top six finishers in the average. Senior Kooper Heimburg (San Tan Valley, Ariz.) was first in the average with a 157. Heimburg won the first go-round with an 81, and was second in the second go-round with a 76. He collected 170 points. Both Sophomore Collin Roland (Childersburg, Ala.) and Sophomore Jason Wilson (Bennington, Vt.) finished in a tie for second in the average with a 148. Roland was second in the first go-round with a 75 and sixth in the second go-round with a 70 to earn 105 total points. Wilson was sixth in the first go-round with a 70, then won the second go-round with a 78, finishing with 110 points. Fourth in the average was Freshman Owen Prince (Humbodlt, Ky.) with a 148. Prince finished fourth in the first go-round with a 71 and third in the second go-round with a 75, earning 95 points. Sixth in the average was Senior Hayden Leavell (Ozark, Ark.) with a 138, and he earned 15 points. Also, Sophomore Judd Pope (Garnett, Ky.) finished fourth in the first go-round with a 71 to earn 25 points, and Freshman Kade Parrish (LaVelle, Wisc.) was fourth in the second go-round with a 74 to earn 30 points.
The Viking cowboys also produced the top four finishers in the saddle bronc riding average. Sophomore Treg Huver (Nashville, Mich.) was first overall with a 127 after placing third in the first go-round with a 62, then winning the second go-round with a 65. Huver earned 160 points. Freshman Creek Caldwell (Bainbridge, Ind.) was second in the average with a 116. Caldwell won the first go-round with a 65, then placed third in the second go-round with a 51, earning 150 points. Freshman Riley McGuire (Harrisville, Pa.) was third in the average with a 100 and earned 110 points. McGuire finished fifth in the first go-round with a 40 then placed second in the second go-round with a 60. Placing fourth in the average with a 65 was Pope to earn 80 points. Pope was second in the first go-round with a 65.
Freshman Jace Hensley (Paola, Kan.) finished first in the bull riding average with a 154. Hensley was fourth in the first go-round with a 73 then won the second go-round with an 81 to earn 150 points. Freshman Brett Hopp (Toulon, Ill.) was sixth in the bull riding average with a 77, after placing second in the first go-round. Hopp earned 55 points. In steer wrestling, Junior Carson Ball (Bruner, Mo.) finished second in the average with a 10.9 to earn 140 points. Ball won the first go-round with a 6.0, then placed fourth in the second go-round with a 5.9. Leavell added a fifth place finish in the steer wrestling average with a 13.9. Leavell was third in the second go-round with a 5.8 and earned 60 points.
Junior Dally Orman (Blakesburg, Iowa) led the women's team with a fourth place finish in the goat tying average with a 15.5 to earn 120 points. Orman won the first go-round with a 7.4 then placed fourth in the second go-round with an 8.1. Freshman Jolene Rhyne (Craig, Mo.) was sixth in the goat tying average with a 16.9 to earn 30 points. Rhyne was fifth in the second go-round with an 8.8. Plus, Freshman Halley Donald (Oden, Ark.) was second in the first go-round of the event, finishing with a 7.5, to earn 45 points. In barrel racing, Senior Grace Waldenberger (Holem, Wisc.) finished sixth in the first go-round with a 15.17 and earned 10 points. Plus, Waldenberger partnered with Parrish in team roping, and finished sixth in the average at 24.9 to earn 20 points apiece. The pair finished sixth in the second go-round with a 15.3.
The men's rodeo team was first place overall with a total score of 790. West Alabama was second with a score of 490. The Viking cowgirls were sixth in the standing, totaling 30 points. Murray State (Ky.) on the rodeo with a total of 275 points.
