Rodeo Teams Finish Third Go-Rounds, Three Advance to Saturday's Short Go-Round
Marshall, Mo., (June 20, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's rodeo teams finished third go-round competition Friday evening at the 2025 College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo. One Viking finished with a third go-round title, and three Viking cowboys advance to Saturday's short go-round.
In bareback riding, Junior Kooper Heimburg (San Tan Valley, Ariz.) posted the best ride of the third go-round with an 81.5 to finish on top of the go-round standings. Sophomore Jason Wilson (Pownal, Vt.) also competed in the event, and finished the third go-round sixth with a 77.0.
On the women's side, Freshman Kate Brisbane (Kearney, Mo.) finished at No. 17 in the third go-round with a 6.9 in goat tying. Also, Sophomore Kalyani Das (Las Cruces, N.M.) placed at No. 29 in the third go-round of barrel racing, with a 14.90.
After the completion of the third go-rounds, a total of three Vikings advance to the short go-round Saturday evening, vying for possible individual National championships and All-American honors. All three will compete in bareback riding.
In bareback riding, three Vikings advance to the short go-round, sitting in the top 12 of the standings. Heimburg has a 241 in the average and is currently second in the standings, just half a point back of first place. Heimburg won the third go-round with an 81.5. Junior Bryce Eck (Redfield, Kan.) is ninth in the average with a 231, and placed second in the third go-round with an 80.5. Wilson comes in at No. 12 in the average with a 225.5, and will compete Saturday. Also in bareback riding, Freshman Collin Roland (Fayetteville, Ala.) finished with a 66.5 in his only ride, coming in the second go-round. Heimburg has collected 120 points, Eck has earned 70 points, and Wilson has earned 70 points.
In steer wrestling, Sophomore Carson Ball (Bruner, Mo.) finished at No. 15 in the average with an 8.9 on two rides. Ball was second in the second go-round with a 4.4 and followed with a 4.5 in the third go-round to place third and collect a total of 120 points. Also for the men's team, Eck finished with one ride in saddle bronc riding, a 76 in the second go-round, and Freshman Treg Huver (Nashville, Tenn.) did not score on his three rides.
On the women's side, Brisbane placed at No. 27 in the goat tying average with a 23.9. In breakaway roping, Freshman Codie Vaughan (Searcy, Ark.) placed at No. 32 with an average of 24.4 on two rides, and Sophomore Addi Williams (Harrisburg, Ark.) had a 3.3 on one ride. Das finished at No. 41 in barrel racing, with a 54.78 in the average.
The 2025 College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., finishes with the short go-round Saturday at 7 p.m., (8 p.m., Central). The trio of Heimburg, Eck and Wilson will compete in bareback riding.
