Rodeo Teams Open Competition at the College National Finals Rodeo

Marshall, Mo., (June 17, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's rodeo teams opened the 2025 College National Finals Rodeo, in Casper, Wyo., with the first to go-rounds of competition through Tuesday afternoon.

 

In bareback riding, Junior Kooper Heimburg (San Tan Valley, Ariz.) placed sixth in both go-rounds with an 80.5 and a 79.0 and sits sixth in the average with a 159.5.  Junior Bryce Eck (Redfield, Kan.) is No. 12 in the average after the first two go-rounds with scores of 75.5 and 75.0 to have a 150.5 in the average.  Sophomore Jason Wilson (Pownal, Vt.) opened with a 69.0 in the first go-round and placed fifth in the second go-round with a 79.5.  Wilson is No. 14 overall with a 148.5 in the average.   Also, Freshman Collin Roland posted a no score in the first go-round, followed by a 66.5 in the second go-round to sit at No. 26 in the average.

 

In saddle bronc riding, both Eck and Freshman Treg Huver (Nashville, Mich.) had no score rides in their first go-rounds.  Eck followed with a 76.0 in the second go-round to sit at No. 25 in the average, and Huver had a no score in the second go-round. Also for the men's team, Sophomore Carson Ball (Bruner, Mo.) finished with a no score in the first go-round in steer wrestling, but bounced back with a 4.4 to place second in the second go-round, and sit at No. 20 in the average.

 

On the women's side, Freshman Kate Brisbane (Kearney, Mo.) had an 8.2 and 8.8 in the first two go-rounds of goat tying, and is No. 39 in the standings with a 17.0. Sophomore Kalyani Das (Las Cruces, N.M.) had rides of 24.81 and 15.07 in the first two go-rounds of barrel racing to sit at No. 45 in the average with a 39.88.  In breakaway roping, Freshman Codie Vaughan (Searcy, Ark.) had a 12.1 in the first go-round, followed by a no score in the second go-round, while Sophomore Addi Williams (Harrisburg, Ark.) finished with no score in both go-rounds. 

 

Third go-rounds begin Tuesday evening and last through Friday.  The short-round takes place Saturday.  The 2025 CNFR is in Casper, Wyo., with third go-rounds and the short go-round starting at 7 p.m. (8 p.m., Central) each evening.  Only one Viking competes in Tuesday evening's third go-round, and that is Bryce Eck in bareback riding.
