Men's Lacrosse Plays Home Contest Against Midland
Marshall, Mo., (April 4, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College men's lacrosse team hosted Midland (Neb.) in a non-conference match, Saturday afternoon inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium. The Vikings fell to the Warriors in the contest.
The game started with both teams trading possession through the opening three minutes. Midland eventually scored near the 11-minute mark, and moments later the Warriors added a goal to make it a 2-0 score. Midland scored another goal quickly after the restart to hold a 3-0 advantage. The two teams traded possession through the next stretch of play where Freshman Goalkeeper Henry Mullen (Roy, Utah) made a save. Missouri Valley used a goal by Freshman Attacker Kael Pierquet (Sobieski, Wisc.) to cut its deficit down to 3-1 with under seven minutes to play in the first quarter. The Warriors responded by adding a goal quickly after the faceoff, and just over two minutes later scored a goal to extend their lead, 5-1. Midland created more offense in the final minutes of play, but Mullen came up with two saves, and the Vikings trailed, 5-1 going into the second quarter.
The second quarter featured a save from Mullen just over a minute after the restart, but the Warriors increased its lead over the rest of the quarter scoring three more goals before going into halftime. Missouri Valley went into halftime trailing, 8-1.
Midland continued to pull away through the rest of the third and fourth quarter. The Vikings created some chances in the final quarter, as Junior Midfielder Jayden Franklin (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) had three shots, and both Pierquet and Freshman Defender Preston Nicholson (Lee's Summit, Mo.) each had a shot, but they were unable to score, and Missouri Valley fell, 18-1.
Pierquet had two shots on target, scored a goal, and picked up five ground balls. Franklin added five shots, while Nicholson had one shot and collected five ground balls. Mullen came up with 22 saves in the game. Missouri Valley forced 24 turnovers and fell by a final score of 18-1.
Missouri Valley drops to 0-8 on the season, while Midland improves to 4-5 overall.
Up next, the men's lacrosse team will host No. 5 William Penn (Iowa) in a Heart of America Athletic Conference match, Tuesday at 3 p.m., inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.
