Men's Golf Finishes Play at NAIA National Championship

Silvis, Ill., (May 15, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College men's golf team finished play at the 2026 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., with Friday's fourth round.  The Vikings maintained their position in the top 15 after completing their rounds.  The Vikings produced one golfer in the top 15, and posted the program's best-ever finish at the National championship.

 

Leading the team in the fourth round was Freshman Felipe Suarez (Cordoba, Argentina) who finished at even-par (70) in the round.  Suarez recorded a birdie on the par-five 17th hole.  In the three previous rounds, Suarez posted scores of +4 (74), +5 (75) and -1 (69) to finish with a total score of +8 (292) to place at No. 14 overall, and eight strokes back of first place.  

 

Freshman Joaquin Raminger (Buenos Aires, Argentina) followed with a +2 (72) in the round, which included birdies on the par-four 8th, par-four 14th and par-three 16th, plus the only eagle of the tournament for the team at the par-five 17th.  Raminger carded rounds of a +2 (72) in the first round, +4 (74) in the second round and +3 (73) in the third round to sit at a total score of +11 (295) to place No. 21 overall.

 

Sophomore Brad Storrer (Harare, Zimbabwe) finished his tournament with a +5 (75) in the fourth round, and carded one birdie on the day.  Storrer birdied the par-four 14th.  The three previous rounds featured scores of +10 (80), -2 (68), and +3 (73) as Storrer ended at No. 36 overall with a +16 (300) at the tournament.

 

The final team scorer on the day was Senior Nelius De Jager (Upington, South Africa) who finished with a +12 (82), which included a birdie on the par-five 17th hole.  De Jager added a +11 (81) in the third round, and only played in the final two days of the tournament. 

 

Senior Chad Coburn (Bloemfontein, South Africa) carded a +15 (85) in the final round, and birdied the par-four 14th hole.  Coburn had scores of +9 (79), +3 (73) and +7 (77) to post a total score of +34 (314) to place No. 78 overall.

 

Playing in the first two rounds of the tournament was Junior Leo Burger (Johannesburg, South Africa), who finished with scores of +11 (81) and +13 (83) in each round.

 

As a team, Missouri Valley finished at No. 14 overall, the best finish at the National championship in program-history (2019 team placed No. 15 overall).  The team posted a final score of +66 (1186).  Oklahoma City won the tournament with a +33 (1153) and Friends (Kan.) was second with a score of +35 (1155)..

 

The Viking men's golf team ends one of the most successful seasons in program-history.  The team captured the program's second Heart of America Athletic Conference championship, and played in the National championship for the second time in program-history.
