No. 15 Men's Golf Overcomes Deficit With Strong Third Round to Win Midwest National Spring Invite
Manhattan, Kan., (April 7, 2026)- The No. 15 Missouri Valley College men's golf team played at the Midwest National Spring Invite at Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan, Kan. The Vikings trailed early in the tournament, but worked back with a strong third round to win the event and produce to the top two individuals.
Leading the team was Freshman Joaquin Raminger (Buenos Aires, Argentina), who finished with a three-round score of -10 (206) to win the tournament by three strokes. Raminger was the only player to go under-par in all three rounds. He finished with a -2 (70) in the first round, followed by a -3 (69) in the second round, and was one of only three golfers to finish under-par in the third round, with a -5 (67).
Finishing in second place was Freshman Felipe Suarez (Cordoba, Argentina) who came in with a -7 (209) final score. Suarez opened the tournament with a -2 (70) in the first round, then posted the lowest single-round score of any golfer with a -6 (66) in the second round. Suarez finished with a +1 (73) in the third round.
Sophomore Brad Storrer (Harare, Zimbabwe) followed with a +10 (226) to finish at No. 19. He posted an even-par (72) in the third round. Junior Leo Burger (Johannesburg, South Africa) came in at No. 22 with a +11 (227) to round out the team scorers, which included a -3 (69) in the third round. Senior Ryan Van Eyk (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) placed at No. 49 with a final score of +28 (244), and Sophomore Gabriel Pereira Leite (Lisbon, Portugal) played as an individual and came in at No. 50 with a +29 (245).
As a team, the Vikings finished first overall with a final score of even-par (864) to win the tournament by 17 strokes over No. 19 Hastings (Neb.). Missouri Valley closed the tournament with a third round team score of -7 (281) to overcome an eight-stroke deficit going into the final round of play.
Up next, the men's program will compete at the CMU Reserve Tournament at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, Mo., April 16. The women's team will next be in action April 13-14 at the Mount Mercy (Iowa) Spring Invite, played at Brown Deer Golf Club in Coralville, Iowa.
