Golf Teams Compete at William Woods Spring Invite
Fulton, Mo., (March 31, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's golf teams competed at the William Woods Spring Invite at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo. The teams played the first round on Monday, but the second round was canceled due to weather.
On the men's "B" team, Sophomore Gabriel Pereira Leite (Lisbon, Portugal) led with a +3 (75) in the first round, to finish in a tie for No. 18. Senior Nelius De Jager (Upington, South Africa) followed at No. 40 with a final score of +6 (78). Freshman Joaquin Raminger (Buenos Aires, Argentina) totaled a +8 (80) to place at No. 54, and Junior Valentin Bosdari (Mendoza, Argentina) finished with a +9 (81) to place at No. 59.
Also, two members of the team played as individuals. Senior Ryan Van Eyk (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) shot a +1 (73) to place ninth. Freshman Esteban Cervantes (Malaga, Spain) shot a +17 (89) to place at No. 84.
As a team, the Vikings finished eighth overall with a +26 (314). William Woods "B" (Mo.) won the tournament with a +1 (289), and Mount Mercy (Iowa) was second with a +4 (292). William Woods (Mo.) was third with a +8 (296).
The women's team was led by Junior Hanna Rieker (Munich, Germany) who placed tenth overall with a final score of +9 (81). Senior Kali Brown (Smithville, Mo.) followed at No. 26 with a +14 (86). Sophomore Sydney Righter (Camdenton, Mo.) came in at No. 34 with a +18 (90), while Senior Madison Mills (Willard, Mo.) totaled a +24 (96) to place at No. 44. Sophomore Victoria Menard Varela (Coruna, Spain) finished with a +25 (97) to place No. 45, and playing as an individual was Junior Jalynn Allen (Lebanon, Mo.) who finished at No. 40 overall with a +22 (94).
As a team, the Vikings finished eighth overall with a +65 (353). William Woods (Mo.) won the tournament with a +30 (318), and Iowa Western CC was second with a +33 (321). John A Logan (Ill.) was third with a +37 (325).
Up next, the men's golf will play at the Midwest National Spring Invite at Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kan., April 6-7. The women's team will play at the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational at Brown Deer Club in Coralville, Iowa, April 13-14.
