No. 11 Men's Golf Opens Spring Season With Individual Title at Texas Invite
Prosper, Texas, (Feb. 24, 2026)- The No. 11 Missouri Valley College men's golf team opened its spring competition season at the Texas Invite, played at Gentle Creek Country Club in Prosper, Texas. The Vikings produced the individual champion and placed fourth as a team at the tournament.
Leading the team was Freshman Felipe Suarez (Cordoba, Argentina) who was the individual champion with a three-round score of -5 (211), winning the tournament by one stroke. Suarez finished with an even-par (72) in the first round, a -3 (69) in the second round, and was the only golfer to finish under-par in the third round, with a -2 (70) to take first place.
He was followed by Senior Chad Coburn (Bloemfontein, South Africa), who placed at No. 20 with a total score of +9 (225). Coburn opened the tournament with a -3 (69) in the first round. Junior Leo Barger (Johannesburg, South Africa) placed at No. 29 with a final score of +11 (227), and Freshman Joaquin Raminger (Buenos Aires, Argentina) finished out the team scorers with a +12 (228) to come in at No. 29. Sophomore Brad Storrer (Harare, Zimbabwe) placed at No. 32 with a +13 (229), which included an even-par (72) in the second round.
Two Vikings placed as individuals. Sophomore Gabriel Pereira Leite (Lisbon, Portugal) placed at No. 35 overall with a final score of +15 (231) and Senior Nelius De Jager (Upington, South Africa) came in at No. 54 with a +26 (242).
As a team, Missouri Valley finished the tournament in fourth place, with a total score of +19 (883). No. 5 Friends (Kan.) won the tournament with a total score of +9 (873), followed by No. 4 Oklahoma City in second place with a +11 (875) and No. 17 Science & Arts (Okla.) was third with a +16 (880). No. 20 Wayland Baptist (Texas) was fifth with a +21 (885).
Next up for the men's team is the Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) Invite, played at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson in Columbia, Ky., March 16-17.
