Men's Golfer Earns Weekly Heart Award

Marshall, Mo., (March 27, 2023)- A Missouri Valley College men's golfer has earned a weekly award from the Heart of America Athletic Conference for his performance last week.

Freshman Mateo Quiroga (Canelones, Uruguay) has been named the Heart Men's Golfer of the Week following his play at the Oakwood Intercollegiate at the Oakwood County Club in Enid, Okla. Quiroga finished second overall with a two-round total of +6 (148), three strokes back of first place. He posted one of the lowest scores in the second round, with a +1 (72), trimming four strokes off his first round score.

Quiroga earned the first weekly Heart award of his career, and becomes the first men's golfer to earn the honor since Pablo Hernandez did on Oct. 11, 2021.

This week, the Viking men's and women's golf teams play in the William Woods (Mo.) Spring Invite, Monday and Tuesday, at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo.
