Esports Rocket League Secures Undefeated Heart Title

Marshall, Mo., (March 21, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College Esports Rocket League team took on Central Methodist (Mo.) in a Heart of America Athletic Conference series to close out the regular season, Friday evening.  The Vikings earned a 3-1 win in the series, and captured an undefeated Heart regular championship. 

Missouri Valley opened the best-of-five series with a loss in game one, by a 1-0 score.  Both Colton Herrin and Dominic Hoskin made two saves in the game, but MVC fell to trail in the series.

Game two ended in a 5-3 win for the Vikings, as Hoskin led with three goals.  Herrin added one goal and four assists, while Diego Ruiz had one goal and made four saves in the game.

With the series tied at 1-1 in games, Missouri Valley used a pair of goals from both Herrin and Ruiz to earn a 5-3 win in game three.  Hoskin added one goal and two assists as the team moved ahead, 2-1 in the series.

Looking to close out a series victory, the Vikings held off Central Methodist in the fourth game, by a 5-4 score.  Both Hoskin and Ruiz totaled two goals and one assist, while Herrin had one goal and one assist.  The win closed out the series, 3-1, in favor of Missouri Valley.

Hoskin led with six goals to go with four assists and three saves.  Herrin totaled four goals, six assists and five saves, while Ruiz added four goals and four assists.

The win finishes out the regular season for the Viking Rocket League team, with a 6-0 record, and secures an outright and undefeated Heart regular season title.  This is the first regular season Heart title for the program.

Up next, the Missouri Valley Esports Rocket league team will compete at the Heart Postseason Championship, March 29, hosted by Park (Mo.).
