Riley Jefferson Named New Dance Coach

Marshall, Mo., (June 15, 2022)- The Missouri Valley College Athletic Department announces the promotion of Riley Jefferson to head coach of the dance program for the 2022-23 competition season.

Jefferson will take over as head coach for the program after spending last season as a student assistant coach. Jefferson was also a three-year member of the dance program as a student-athlete, from 2018-21.

"I am so grateful to continue working with my team, and I am excited for the opportunity to lead them as head coach," said Jefferson. "I want to thank Mike Machholz for giving me this opportunity. I look forward to the team's progress and growth this season, and I hope to lead them to success."

Jefferson has been involved with dance for 20 years, and has a background with studio dance and team dance.

"We are excited to announce the hiring of Riley Jefferson as our new dance team head coach," said Senior Associate Athletic Director Mike Machholz. "She has competed for us, she knows Missouri Valley, and she knows the Heart of America Athletic Conference. This gives her a leg up on what it takes in the recruiting process and development for this program. I am very confident in her being able to bring us to a different level within the dance teams in the Heart."

Jefferson takes over for Kelby Hogan, who stepped down as head coach this spring after four seasons leading the program. Jefferson graduated from Missouri Valley with a bachelor's of science degree in agribusiness, and a minor in agronomy.
