Two Men's Basketball Student-Athletes Named to Heart All-Conference Team
Marshall, Mo. (Feb. 26, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College men's basketball team has put two of its student-athletes on the 2026 Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference Team, released Thursday.
Named to the all-conference first team is Junior Devin Davenport (Milwaukee, Wisc.). Davenport becomes the program's first selection to the all-conference first team since 2019 (Larry Plummer). He finished the season as the team's leader in points per game (20.3), total points (588), free throws made (157), and free throw percentage (.897).
Davenport ranks third in the conference with his 20.3 points per game average, and leads the Heart, and is ninth Nationally, in free throw percentage. Davenport impacted the program's record book, setting new single-game records, with 50 points and 31 field goal attempts against William Penn (Iowa), back on Dec. 6. Additionally, his 588 points is sixth most in program-history in a single-season, and the 157 made free throws is second-most for the program in one season. Davenport also became the program's third player to earn the NAIA National Player of the Week award, back on Dec. 9.
Also earning all-conference recognition is Senior Antwon Ferrell (Newman, Ga.) as a second team selection. Ferrell finished the season averaging 15.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. He led the team in rebounds (192), assists (144) and steals (60) and was second on the team in total points (448).
Ferrell led the Heart with his 144 assists and was second in the conference with 60 steals. He ranks fifth all-time for the program in single-season assists and tenth in single-season steals. In addition to his second team all-conference selection, Ferrell was named to the Heart All-Defensive Team. Ferrell collected 172 defensive rebounds on the season to go with his 60 steals, and blocked six shots. He becomes the second player in program-history to earn all-defensive team honors (Cawhan Smith in 2023 and 2024).
The men's basketball team finished its first season under Head Coach Jim Boone with an 18-11 overall record, and a 12-8 record in the Heart. The 18-win campaign is the most for the program since 2014-15 and the team earned a berth into the Heart Postseason Championship for the third-straight season.
