Men's Basketball Student-Athlete Earns Weekly Heart Award
Marshall, Mo., (Jan. 19, 2026)- A Missouri Valley College men's basketball student-athlete has earned a weekly Heart award for his play in two victories last week.
Senior Antwon Ferrell (Newman, Ga.) has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Defender of the Week, presented by WinWon Technologies. Ferrell led the Vikings to a pair of conference wins last week.
Ferrell came down with six defensive rebounds and added three steals in a 72-65 win over Culver-Stockton (Mo.). He followed with eight defensive rebounds and two steals in an 80-71 victory against Mount Mercy (Iowa). Ferrell also averaged 18.5 points per game in the two contests.
This is the first weekly award for Ferrell in his career at Missouri Valley, and joins teammate Junior Kamari Slaughter (Gary, Ind.) as defensive award winners this season. Slaughter won the award last week.
Missouri Valley is 13-6 overall and 7-4 in the Heart. Up next is a conference doubleheader at home against William Woods (Mo.). Women's game starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m., inside the Burns Athletic Complex.
