Golf Teams Sweep Weekly Player Awards in the Heart

Marshall, Mo., (Oct. 6, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's golf teams have swept weekly awards from the Heart of America Athletic Conference for their play at the William Woods (Mo.) Fall Invitational last week.

 

Senior Chad Corburn (Bloemfontein, South Africa) was named the Heart Men's Golfer of the Week and Junior Hanna Rieker (Munich, Germany) was named the Heart Women's Golfer of the Week.

 

Coburn won the award after finishing second overall at the William Woods Fall Invite, played at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo.  Corburn shot a two-round score of -9 (135), one stroke behind the individual champion.  Coburn had the lowest round of anyone in the tournament with a -8 (64) in the second round, and led the team to a second place finish in the standings.

 

Rieker won the women's award after placing second overall at the William Woods Fall Invite, finishing with a two-round score of +3 (147), one stroke behind the individual champion.  Rieker tied for the lowest single-round score, finishing with an even-par (72) in the first round, leading the team to a fourth place finish.

 

Coburn picked up the third weekly Heart award of his career, and the first so far this season.  Rieker earned the third weekly Heart award of her career, and the first this season.  The two swept the weekly awards last season, back on March 31, 2025.

 

Up next, the men's golf team will compete at the MNU Invite, played at Terradyne Country Club in Andover, Kan., Oct. 13-14.  Both teams will finish their fall competition seasons with the Heart Conference Preview, Oct. 20-21, at Paradise Point in Smithville, Mo.
