New Track & Field/Cross Country Head Coach Announced
Marshall, Mo., (June 6, 2025)- Missouri Valley College this week hired Scott Roberts to take over as the Vikings head coach of the track and field and cross country programs.
Most recently the head coach at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa, Roberts has extensive sprint, relay, and hurdle experience. He has also coached at the University of Tennessee, University of Texas El Paso, Iowa State University, and Lindenwood University. He was head track and field and cross country coach at Lindenwood for six years.
"We are happy to have Scott and his leadership on campus," said Athletic Director Marsha Lashley. "I'm certain he will make a big difference for the team and the college."
Roberts takes over for MVC alumnus Steve Lucito, who will remain with the program as a recruiter in the Kansas City area.
"I'm excited to be at Missouri Valley and help this team move forward," Roberts said. "Coach Lucito is a legend, and I'm glad I can build upon his great foundation."
Lucito said he was appreciative of President Joe Parisi, and looked forward to staying in the track program and working with Roberts, "who is such a high-caliber individual with a great record."
Roberts already has begun recruiting, and is putting the finishing touches on MVC's cross country schedule for this fall.
He has a master's degree from Ohio State University, and a bachelor's degree from Midland Lutheran College.
