Tennis Earns All-Conference & Coach of the Year Honors

Marshall, Mo., (April 29, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's tennis teams recently completed their seasons, and both had student-athletes recognized on the Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference Team.  A total of four student-athletes were recognized, along with the Coach of the Year award.

Three members of the men's tennis team were recognized, led by first team selection Junior Alecson Deschamps (Bluemenau, Brazil).  Deschamps is now a three-time all-conference selection, which includes a first team honor in 2023 and a second team selection in 2024.

Named to the Heart All-Conference Second Team are Junior Valentin Laser (Bad Endorf, Germany) and Junior Alex Ballinger (Northampton, England).  Both earned the first all-conferences honors of their careers.

On the women's side, Sophomore Queralt Carbo (Barcelona, Spain) was named to the Heart All-Conference Second Team.  This is the second all-conference selection for Carbo, who was a first team all-conference choice in 2023.

Also, Head Coach Liam Kahmeyer was named the Heart Men's Tennis Co-Coach of the Year.  Kahmeyer stepped in as Interim Head Coach throughout the 2024-25 season, and will take over the Head Coach role for the 2025-26 season.

The both teams advanced to the semifinal round of the Heart Postseason Tournament, played earlier this month.  The women's team finished its season with an 8-4 record, and the men's team went 6-7 on the season.
