Baseball Student-Athlete Earns Weekly Heart Pitching Honor
Marshall, Mo., (April 21, 2025)- A Missouri Valley College baseball student-athlete has earned a weekly award from the Heart of America Athletic Conference for his performance on the mound over the weekend.
Junior Pitcher Tanner Duncan (Kennett, Mo.) has been named the Heart Baseball Pitcher of the Week, presented by BoxOut, for his performance in a win at Culver-Stockton (Mo.). Duncan pitched a complete-game shutout, in a 6-0 victory. The complete-game featured only two hits given up by Duncan, with 11 strikeouts.
This is the third weekly award for Duncan so far this season, and the second weekly award as a pitcher. He became the first player in program-history to earn the weekly pitcher award back on March 3, and also earned the Heart Player of the Week Award for his performance at the plate in a series against William Penn (Iowa), back on March 24.
The Viking baseball team will wrap up its 2025 season with a Heart series against Baker (Kan.), scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Indian Foothills Park. Doubleheaders each day are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
