Shotgun Sports Competes at Midland Warrior Open

Lincoln, Neb., (Sept. 27, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College shotgun sports team continued its season at the Midland (Neb.) Warrior Open at Lincoln Trap and Skeet in Lincoln, Neb.  The competition consisted of American trap, American skeet and sporting clays.  The Vikings finished ninth overall.

 

In trap, the team finished with a 456/500 score.  Senior Blayne Kolb (Maysville, Mo.), Sophomore Paige Burns (Trail, Minn.) and Freshman Lodden Axtell (Muscatine, Iowa) each finished with a 93/100 score.  Sophomore Jack Duffin (Novato, Calif.) followed with an 89/100 and Freshman Jay Allen (Harris, Mo.) added an 88/100.

 

In skeet, the team posted a score of 459/500, and was led by a 97/100 for Senior Charlie Maddox (Forest, Va.).  Freshman Olivia Simmons (Flower Mound, Texas) had a 92/100, while Kolb added a 91/100.  Sophomore Dakota Zaugg (Santa Maria, Calif.) finished with a 90/100, and both Duffin and Junior Ely Allen (Carrollton, Mo.) finished with scores of 89/100 each.

 

In sporting clays, the team finished with a 378/500 score.  Duffin led with n 84/100, and Freshman Madi Scott (Kaysville, Utah)followed with a 75/100.  Zuagg had a 74/100, Jay Allen finished with a 73/100 and Axtell had a 72/100.

 

The team contributors were led by a 262/300 from Duffin, while Zaugg followed with a 251/300, Kolb and Burns both had scores of 246/300, and Maddox added a 245/300.  Missouri Valley finished ninth overall with a total of 1250.  Midland won the competition with a 1410, and William Penn (Iowa) followed with a 1396.

 

"This weekend, we displayed areas for team and individual growth to work on and make our shooting abilities stronger and more consistent," said Head Coach Reba Kingsley.

 

Up next, the Viking shotgun sports team hosts the Viking Invitational, Oct. 5-6, at the Prairie Grove Shotgun Sports Complex in Columbia, Mo.
