Men's Golfer Wins Second National Award of Season

Marshall, Mo., (May 3, 2023)- A Missouri Valley College men's golfer has earned another weekly award from the NAIA for his performance last week.

Freshman Mateo Quiroga (Canelones, Uruguay) has been named the NAIA Men's Golfer of the Week for the second time this season after capturing the individual title at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship last week at The Preserve on Lake Rathbun in Moravia, Iowa.

Quiroga had a three-round score of -15 (201) to win the conference title by nine strokes.  He finished with two rounds of -6 (66), and one round of -3 (69).  As a team, the Vikings finished as the conference runner-up by one stroke behind Park (Mo.).

Quiroga earned his second weekly award from the NAIA this season.  He also won the National award back on April 19.  He has been named the Heart Men's Golfer of the Week four times this season.  Those awards came on March 27, April 3, and April 17, and May 1.  He is the only men's golfer in program-history to win the National award.
