Men's Golfer Earns Third Weekly Heart Award

Marshall, Mo., (April 17, 2023)- A Missouri Valley College men's golfer has earned another weekly award from the Heart of America Athletic Conference for his performance last week.

Freshman Mateo Quiroga (Canelones, Uruguay) has been named the Heart Men's Golfer of the Week for the third time this season after winning the MVC Spring Invite played at Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall, Mo., last week.

Quiroga had a three-round score of -12 (204) to finish in a three-way tie for first place.  He had two rounds under-par, with a -5 (67) in the second round and a -7 (65) in the third round, the lowest single round score of the tournament.  Quiorga then outlasted the competition in three playoff holes to win the event title.  The Vikings placed fourth in the team standings.

Quiroga earned his third weekly Heart award in the past four weeks.  He was named the Heart Men's Golfer of the Week back on March 27, then again on April 3.

Next up for the men's golf team is the Heart Championship, set for April 24-25 at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake in Moravia, Iowa.
